In the past period, the first apprentice sheet metal workers have started the training program of People with Skills at Fokker Techniek. Under the supervision of our own People with Skills trainer Ab Neele, they are trained to become fully-fledged sheet metal workers. After twelve months, the trained sheet metal workers are taken over and are directly employed by Fokker Techniek. During the training, the apprentice sheet metal workers receive a full-time salary from People with Skills. In addition to the training, we also arrange the housing and the onboarding program, so that the students are ready to start their career as a sheet metal worker.
What does this job with training look like?
The first two months, the students receive intensive training from Ab in a separate room, specially designed to train sheet metal workers. After this training, they are transferred by Ab and paired with an experienced sheet metal worker. Together with this sheet metal worker, they start training in the hangar, with a number of half days reserved each week for further targeted training. After six to twelve months, the sheet metal worker can work independently on aircraft in the hangar.
